Grace and peace to you, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Since 2002, when I was called to be the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Weedsport,
we have been very busy working on making our church a welcoming and worshipful place to serve
the Lord. This includes painting, repairing, replacing, and sprucing up wherever needed. We
have also made several purchases including a new sanctuary organ and a new outdoor church
sign. Recently, we redecorated the "Koinonia Room" --our main fellowship and meeting room, and
purchased a projector to be used with powerpoint presentations in worship, for the children's
message and sermon illustrations, as well as Christian Education.
One of the most exciting additions in recent years, has been the formation of a praise band to lead
us in songs of praise: both contemporary and traditional gospel. This talented and dedicated
group of musicians, many of whom also sing in our sanctuary choir, blesses us each week with
beautiful music to the glory of God.
We are also very blessed to have a wealth of talented people in our congregation who generously
give of their time and gifts in service. Some of them teach Sunday School. Some serve as church
officers or work on committees. Others are on staff, both paid and volunteer. Many others serve
in quiet and humble ways as we all strive to be faithful to the calling of our Lord. I am grateful
for each and every one of them, and invite visitors and new members to join us at any time to
experience the fellowship of committed Christians who grow daily in faith. My hope is that
together all who come through our doors will join the psalmist who said so long ago: "I was glad
when they said to me 'Let us go into the house of the Lord.'"
May God bless you and give you peace,
Rev. Debra L. Thomas
